Are dive masters in Belize
trained or certified in any way?
Yes. Every Dive
Master has to be certified before being granted a license to operate in
Belize. It is always a good idea however to request a dive master to
show you their certification papers and license to operate in Belize.
Is diving safe in Belize?
Diving is a hazardous sport
anywhere. Caution should always be taken before, during, and after a
dive. Remember! There will always be dives that are beyond
your physical capabilities.
Is Blue Hole considered an
advanced dive?
Yes! However, the
dives are very well supervised and so your instructor and guide will make
the decision for you if Blue Hole is too advanced for your skill level.
What equipment is available
and is it maintained and safe?
Different dive masters use
different equipment and there is no exact standard or regulation on
equipment in Belize. This said, accidents during dives in Belize are
very low. We advise that every diver take his or her regulator with
them and that they thoroughly check their equipment before starting a
dive.
